Ashleigh & Daniel’s Keele Hall Wedding | Staffordshire Wedding Photographer

There’s something rather special about a wedding at Keele Hall. The beautiful historic hall, the surrounding grounds and the little pockets of countryside make it such a lovely setting for photographs — even when the British weather decides to make an appearance!

Ashleigh and Daniel’s wedding was a wonderful family celebration, with their gorgeous little boy Josiah very much at the heart of their day.

A 2pm ceremony at Keele Hall

We arrived at Keele Hall in time to meet guests as they arrived, with everyone gradually making their way into the hall ready for Ashleigh and Daniel's 2pm ceremony.

There was a lovely sense of excitement as family and friends gathered together. It was clear from the beginning that this was a day centred around the people who mattered most to them.

And, of course, little Josiah was never far from the action!

The ceremony was filled with those lovely family moments that make weddings so special — the smiles, the emotion and all the little interactions that happen naturally when everyone you love is together.

Making the most of the grounds — despite the rain!

The weather wasn't exactly on our side, with plenty of rain making an appearance throughout the day.

But one of the things I always say to my couples is that we don't need perfect weather to create beautiful wedding photographs.

We kept an eye on the skies and, when we had a little break in the rain, we headed outside.

That gave us just enough time to capture the confetti shot and then take Ashleigh and Daniel around some of Keele Hall's beautiful grounds for some photographs of the two of them.

There’s something I love about these photographs — they don't need to take hours. A few minutes outside, making the most of a break in the weather, can give you a lovely collection of relaxed photographs together without taking you away from your guests for too long.

And then, inevitably, the rain returned!

Back inside we went, where the celebrations continued.

A lovely family wedding

One of my favourite things about weddings like Ashleigh and Daniel's is seeing the relationships between generations.

With their family and friends around them and Josiah at the centre of so many of the day's memories, there were plenty of moments to photograph throughout the day.

From the formal photographs through to the little candid moments happening in between, it was a lovely reminder that wedding photography isn't just about photographing the couple.

It's about the people, the hugs, the laughter, the children, the grandparents, the friends and all those little moments that you'll want to remember years from now.

As the evening celebrations got underway, little Josiah had clearly decided that he'd had quite enough excitement for one day!

It's one of those completely unplanned moments that makes a wedding gallery feel like your wedding rather than a collection of perfectly posed photographs.

And that's exactly what I love about photographing weddings.

Keele Hall wedding photography

Keele Hall is one of the venues I have been lucky enough to photograph at many times, and it really is a fantastic setting for wedding photography.

There are beautiful indoor spaces for photographs when the weather isn't playing ball, as well as extensive grounds that give you plenty of opportunities to get outside when the weather allows.

And, as Ashleigh and Daniel's wedding showed, you don't need sunshine to make the most of them.

A little break in the rain was all we needed.

For me, relaxed wedding photography is about working with the day you've got rather than trying to make it something it isn't. If it rains, we find a window. If the children are running around, we photograph it. If someone gets emotional, we capture it. And if a little boy falls asleep halfway through the party... well, that's part of the story too!

Congratulations Ashleigh and Daniel. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a lovely family celebration at Keele Hall. 🤍
