Some weddings just stay with you, and Jayne & Ben’s day at The Manor House Hotel in Alsager is one we won’t be forgetting any time soon.
We first met over a year ago at another wedding at the same venue. I got chatting with Jayne and Ben, and we instantly clicked—helped along, of course, by our shared love of Outlander! From that very first conversation, we knew this would be a couple we'd love to photograph.
A Beautiful Day with Scottish Soul
Jayne & Ben’s wedding was the perfect mix of personal, meaningful, and just the right amount of cheeky fun. Their theme gave a gorgeous nod to Jayne’s Scottish roots, and every detail had been carefully thought through.
From the moment guests arrived, the Scottish touches made themselves known. Thistles in the flowers, table names after Scottish lochs, and favours of traditional tablet with each guest’s name lovingly attached as a tag—it was all beautifully done. But nothing quite matched the moment when Jayne was piped into the ceremony by the incredibly talented Andrew Brian, Highland Bagpiper. It gave everyone goosebumps… and maybe a little lump in the throat, too.
During the ceremony, the couple shared a traditional Scottish drinking ritual—sharing whisky from a ceremonial cup. The ceremony was conducted by the lovely K from tales from the registrars desk.
Friends, Family, and Full-On Laughter
We’ve got to say, this one felt like photographing friends. Jayne and Ben were so relaxed and natural in front of the camera, and their families and friends were an absolute joy. Everyone was up for a chat, a laugh, and of course, the odd cheeky photo or two!
The speeches were an absolute highlight. Full of belly laughs and heartfelt moments, they had the whole room roaring. Think Ben well and truly drew the short straw there!
Golden Hour Perfection
We were incredibly lucky with the weather. April can be a bit of a wildcard, but last Saturday brought sunshine, blue skies, and a perfect golden hour to top it all off. We snuck out just in time to catch the sun setting around the gorgeous spa area of the Manor—an absolute dream setting for some romantic evening portraits.
Obviously Jayne and Ben couldn't not included. their gorgeous Mac who we managed to sneak in for some stunning photographs
